Cross Stitch (Beginner)

Course Description:
Cross-stitch is one of the oldest forms of embroidery and can be found all over the world. Counted Cross Stitch is a form in which X-shaped stitches are executed on easily countable even weave fabric to form a picture. The stitcher counts the threads in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. This class will teach the basics of thread, fabric and stitching and the participant will go home with a finished piece and the knowledge to create more detailed and complex pieces
Bio:
Linda Wilson has been doing needlework for over 40 years and was originally taught by her grandmother. She is, also, a Master Gardener with a passion for native plants. She frequently presents programs at various club meetings and teaches the native plant module for the Walker County Master Gardener course. Linda has studied native plants at UAB, the University of Western Carolina and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Linda has a degree in Fine Arts and believes that one's garden is an expression of art. On her own piece of the planet, she gardens organically and for wildlife and is proud to be considered a compost wacko.
