Mountain Dulcimer
Peggy Carter

Course Description:
Tune to DAD and get ready to strum, pick and grin. This will be a weekend packed with techniques and tunes. Right hand techniques include strumming styles and flat-picking. Left hand techniques will focus on string bends, hammer-ons and pull-offs plus chords in 1 st and 2 nd position. Simple enough for beginners with challenging fill ins for advancing players.

Bio:
Whether you read music or NOT this class will teach you new skills for hammering, and help you find ways to bring music out of your hammer dulcimer. We will learn many tunes and how to play them with that "dulcimery" sound using drones, rhythms and arpeggios to embellish a basic melody. Tunes include: The Gypsy Rover, Arran Boat Song, The Minstrel Boy, Scotland The Brave, Amazing Grace, The Rakes Of Mallow and a lovely waltz, The South Wind. Inexperienced players can expect to learn many basic skills and techniques in a fun learning environment. For advancing players, we will go beyond the melody and embellishing techniques will be stressed. Visit my website for a sample lesson and download free music.
