Hammered Dulcimer: “Hammer Hands: Dulcimer Tunes and Tricks”
Peggy Carter

Course Description:
Progressing Beginners through intermediate hammer dulcimer players will learn how to get that “dulcimer” sound on favorites such as “Amazing Grace” and “Old Joe Clark”, create intros and endings, and play “Ragamuffin” style back ups. Students will add many new tunes to their repertoire including some Celtic and old time fiddle tunes.

Bio:
Whether you read music or NOT this class will teach you new skills for hammering, and help you find ways to bring music out of your hammer dulcimer. We will learn many tunes and how to play them with that "dulcimery" sound using drones, rhythms and arpeggios to embellish a basic melody. Tunes include: The Gypsy Rover, Arran Boat Song, The Minstrel Boy, Scotland The Brave, Amazing Grace, The Rakes Of Mallow and a lovely waltz, The South Wind. Inexperienced players can expect to learn many basic skills and techniques in a fun learning environment. For advancing players, we will go beyond the melody and embellishing techniques will be stressed. Visit my website for a sample lesson and download free music.

Extra supplies fee: $5
