Intermediate-Advanced Knitting: “The All-Knit-No-Purl, Laced Edge, ½ and ½ Shawl”
Margaret Heathman
Course Description:
Show off your handspun and commercial yarns by knitting this beautiful all-knit, lace-edged triangular shawl. This shawl can be knit to any size-from a scarf to an extra large shawl-based on the amount of yarn you have available, making it the perfect project for those small hanks of precious handspun yarns. The lace edging is knitted on as you go, making finishing a breeze. Knit two and you have a poncho! This class teaches beginning lace knitting techniques, discusses the pros and cons of various fibers used for shawls, and how to design a similar shawl using various techniques. The instructor will demonstrate how to properly block and finish the shawl for best results. Prerequisites: Students must know how to cast on, knit, and bind off without assistance.
