Weaving: “Weaving the Week Away: Beginners”
Rosie Dupuy
Course Description:
The goal of this workshop is for each student to leave knowing they can confidently plan their future projects and joyfully warp their loom on their own, inspired by the wonderful weaving possibilities waiting for them. This beginning workshop includes planning and warping a 4H loom, sampling types of weaving possibilities creating a sampler that can remain a source of information and inspiration… followed by additional projects creating a warping refresher and will add treasures to your weaving chest.
Bio:
Rosie could knit and crochet and do simple needle works as a child but preferred knitting... lots of sewing... and beads. She isn’t sure at what age she actually started any of it because it was always in her life. In the 60’s her family began raising sheep, having their own fiber fit right in and along came spinning and weaving in the 70‘s. She began loom weaving in the early 80’s and soon started giving workshops which lead to teaching weaving at Carl Sandburg College in Illinois. Over time, Rosie has broken down many types of weaving to simple workshops giving them at places like Dickson Mounds Native American Museum, at major festivals like the Mich. Fiber Fest, Wisconsin Spin In and many places in-between. She has not settled on any one type of weaving but goes from the smallest miniatures to rag and wool rugs.
Extra supplies fee: $10
