Beginning Spinning: “Hand Spinning-The Basics and Beyond ”:
Nancy Barnett

Course Description:
Have you always wanted to learn how to spin but didn’t know where to start? This class is for you! We will start with making your own CD drop spindle that will be yours to keep. You will learn how to choose a fleece, the different breeds of wool sheep that produce the fleece, how to prepare the fleece for spinning by washing, carding or combing and then spinning. You will be able to produce a two ply yarn by the end of the class that you can use for weaving, knitting, or crocheting. Some easy designer yarns will also be taught. If you have your own wheel or drop spindle, feel free to bring them. Otherwise wheels will be available for rent. Hand cards and/or combs can also be furnished or bring your own. We will also discuss embellishing your own fiber from your fiber animals using silk coil, glitz, etc and examples of roving will be used to spin designer yarns also. We can go as far as you want as time permits.

Bio:
Nancy Barnett lives in the Missouri Ozarks and has been spinning and raising sheep for 23 years and Angora rabbits for 20 years.
