Experiential Environmental Education in a Residential Setting

MEC Staff Positions Share our 1100+ acres of secluded forests, streams, waterfalls and canyons in northwest Alabama with groups of 12 students. Work with the students to foster in them a sense of community as well as an appreciation, understanding and responsibility for the environment. The students, mostly grades 4 - 8, come from a variety of backgrounds and visit out Center for 3 or 5 day programs.
In order to succeed in this position, you must have a demonstrated respect and affinity for children and a desire to help them learn and grow in an outdoor environment. The following characteristics are essential: enthusiasm, maturity, initiative, sense of humor, flexibility and team spirit. Instructors need to be familiar with the outdoors and environmental issues, have a college degree and possess certifications in CPR and First Aid. All employees undergo a background check. Arangements and Salary $250 per week + room and board. Positions run late February-May and late August-late November. Housing is in a newly renovated house. Single occupancy rooms, kitchen, living room, laundry and screened porch complete with rocking chairs.
