Adopt-A-Raptor
Sponsorship Program

The Camp McDowell Raptor Education program provides a unique opportunity for kids of all age to learn about birds of prey and their special roles in our environment. Nothing is more thrilling as a teacher then to see the awe inspired by these birds when a student comes face to face with a great horned owl or a red tailed hawk. Each year we are able to give over 4,000 students the opportunity to have this experience through our Feathers in Focus program. But to ensure the future of the raptor education program we need your help!

All of our birds were injured at one time and can't be released back into the wild. We have special permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that allow us to use these birds for education. Birds of prey require highly specialized care to keep them health and happy. As you might expect, this care is not cheap. Each year we spend nearly $700 dollars just to provide food for these birds.

You can help by becoming a sponsor and adopting one of our birds. Your sponsorship will ensure that these birds get the best possible care. The money received through this program goes directly towards the costs of food, cage maintenance, and equipment for your bird.

As a Sponsor you will receive the following:

  • A certificate of adoption with your name and the name of your bird.
  • A 5 x 7 Photograph of your bird.
  • A detailed description of the case history of your bird.
  • An informative natural history of your bird species report.
  • The knowledge that you are helping to educate children about our amazing wildlife.
