Guitar Relativity, Einstein
Jim Hurst

jimhurst

Bio:
Jim Hurst was born in Middleboro, Kentucky into a musical family and was raised with a guitar in his hands. Many weekends growing up were spent picking with family and friends. Jim was influenced early in his career by flatpickers such as Tony Rice and George Shuffler, but Doc Watson and Clarence White especially.

Mulit-instrumentalist and experienced in many genres of music, Jim is the recipient of the IBMA's "Guitar Player of the Year" in both 2001 and 2002. He is a veteran of many bands including, Claire Lynch and the Front Porch String Band, the Claire Lynch Band, and Jim Hurst & Missy. For more details of Jim's life, experience, and samples of his music, please go to:

Mark Schatz says, "Jim Hurst is one of the most versatile and tasteful guitar players I know. Whether he's flailing the rhythm for an old time fiddle tune, laying down a funky groove, or finger picking a beautiful ballad, his playing is both impeccable and creative. Accompanying this instrumental virtuosity is a rich and expressive voice with a surprising range."

Course Description:
In this intermediate to advanced class we will work to understand what the instrument offers us and the limits we have that we can grow through
. Relativity to the instrument is what opens the doors to better enjoyment and personal growth. Come join me with an open mind, and be eager and willing to learn.
