Course Description:
This intermediate-advanced level class will expand your repetoire of Irish music. Not a class for absolute beginners, you will learn traditional dance tunes (jigs, reels, etc.), Irish laments and other tunes, and some beautiful tunes by Turlough O'Carolan. We will also work on hammering patterns and techniques to help you play technically challenging tunes, such as jigs, quickly and smoothly. You should be able to play some tunes on the hammered dulcimer and be familiar with the layout of the instrument. The ability to read music is helpful but not necessary.
Extra supplies fee: none
Please bring: Hammered dulcimer, dulcimer stand, hammers, tuner, and a music stand.
