MUSIC DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

This position involves enabling, planning, and carrying out all music appropriate for each camp session and age group. Recognizing that music is a vital part of camp experience, this person must be comfortable leading singing and playing music in front of groups and must be able to encourage campers to learn new songs and sing. The Music Director is responsible to the Head Counselor and to the SCC.

The Music Director needs to:

• be organized and plan music in advance of each group gathering that requires music
• be creative, flexible and enthusiastic
• have knowledge of camp music
• recruit help from other staff members
• motivate campers and staff
• facilitate “porch songs” prior to meals
• facilitate music for worship
